Elder Barber was a bibliophile in the true sense of the word. He loved the written word, and spent hours each day reading and meditating upon the things that he read. Amassing a library of more than 2000 works on theology, history, and philosophy, there were few books that he had not read. However, Elder Barber was not content to read the words of others. He was passionate in his desire to leave behind something of himself in written form.
JUSTIFICATION: The Heart of the Gospel, first published in 1989, was Elder Barber’s first book to be published and distributed. Now in its second edition, it may be purchased through LULU at the following links:

In the Preface of this work, Elder Barber wrote:
“This book was written for the purpose of leading the student of the Bible to a richer and better understanding of the doctrine of justification. The modern cry that doctrine is unimportant is not true. The epistles in the New Testament instruct the reader with doctrine before giving guidelines for practical holiness. Many professors of Christianity do not understand the doctrine of justification nor the meaning of the word. I have tried to correct this erroneous thinking in this book…”
and,
“The book is not exhaustive by any means. Some points are only suggestive. No doubt this is a major weakness of the book. However, to keep the book from becoming too large, I decided not to enlarge on some points. It is my prayer that the book will be an introduction to a better understanding and deeper study of the doctrine of justification.”
